Babies love their sweet taste and like
them like mashed or pressed than juice. We nibble it raw as a snack
between meals or swing out fine in butter. From the soup, it is
impossible to imagine, is each snowman to shame, and their shape
inspired even fashion designers - Popper culture of the 80s coined
the famous carrot pants. In short, The carrot is a real multi-talent.
No wonder that the Orange poles today are the second most commonly
grown vegetables in the European Union after tomatoes.
What is so special about carrots?
Already, the stone age hunter-gatherers
lived on nutritious roots that dug up from the Earth. (Daucus carota)
the carrot has arisen from the wild carrot then cultivated as a crop
already for thousands of years--in Swiss Lake dwellings were found
recently seeds dating to 2000 BC. The purple, yellow and
white-colored varieties still found in markets, are however not new
varieties, but the actual Protoplasts: red-violet
and yellow carrots come from Afghanistan, white from the
Mediterranean.
The current Orange carrot is probably
caused by intersections in the Netherlands. The first evidence can be
found for example in the painting market "woman with vegetable
stand" by Pieter Aertsen from 1567. But too much of a good thing
would be that the carrot "orange" national also donated our
neighbors. This has to do with the Royal House of Orange, but that's
a different story.
So what makes healthy the carrot?
Carrots are rich in beta carotene - a
precursor of vitamin A - which displays strong antioxidant effects in
our body: it starts off cell-damaging free radicals, resulting in the
skin by ultraviolet radiation or in the lungs from tobacco smoke. The
plant pigment also gives the popular carrot complexion babies. So
that the body can more easily absorb beta carotene, carrots should be
cooked, chopped and eaten with some fat, for example butter.
Also provide carrots iron, which is
important for blood formation, as well as the minerals calcium,
potassium, zinc, and vitamins C, K, and folic acid. Foliate includes
the B vitamins and are essential for growth processes such as
Cytogenesis and cell division. Finally, carrots provide much fiber
for a healthy digestive system (it is important to: drinking lots!) -
and all this with only 25 kcal per 100 grams!
How should carrots be stored?
Federal carrots are delicious and
should be eaten directly. In the crisp, hold up to 10 days.
Important: remove the green herb! Thicker washing carrots from the
summer may be stored for up to four weeks, late winter carrots
survive in the basement in wet sand, and well ventilated until the
spring.
Tip:- Carrots are small cut and blanched
will freeze.
